AUTHOR of the MONTH: Beverly Pierce Stroebel

Meet Beverly Pierce Stroebel, author of "Full Sail - A 21st Century Spiritual Cruise On Board The Mayflower". Since the year 2000, VMI’s "Author of the Month" has spent countless hours delving into the history of the Mayflower, so much so, even researchers, students, and theologians will be interested in using her book as a reference.

AUTHOR of the MONTH: Beverly Pierce Stroebel

One might wonder why a home-economics teacher from Minnesota went through such lengths to write this extensive history-filled book? Is she changing her major? I think not!

As a matter of fact, Beverly Pierce Stroebel is one of the 10% of Americans that can trace their family line back to ancestors on board the 17th century Mayflower. Out of 102 passengers that came over on that historical ship, only half of them survived the first winter. Beverly has been able to trace her family line back 13 generations and is related to the Francis Cooke and James Chilton families. Both Francis and James were among the 41 male passengers who signed a solemn agreement known as the Mayflower Compact which began by stating:
IN THE NAME OF GOD, AMEN:
We whose names are underwritten, the loyal subjects of our dread Sovereign lord, King James, by the Grace of God, of Great Britain, France, and Ireland, King, Defender of the Faith, &c. Having undertaken, for the Glory of God, and advancement of the Christian Faith and the Honor of our King and Country, a voyage to plant the first colony in the northern parts of Virginia…
Finding no other book by a Mayflower descendant that advanced the 17th century Compact civil and Christian goals spanning the years until now, Beverly dug deep to see if she could find enough personal, family, and national faith to advance. She found more than expected!

Author of the month Beverly Pierce Stroebel invites men and women, individuals and groups, to come on board to help set and fill sails for this spiritual pilgrimage through time. Do not fear, for according to the 1599 Geneva Bible brought to America by the Pilgrims, like them we can trust the Lord’s promise, When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee (Isaiah 43:2).

Beverly lives in El Dorado Hills, California with her husband Bill. They have 3 married daughters and 5 grandchildren. Even though Full Sail does not release until September 1st, Bev and Bill began promoting the book while in their home state, Minnesota, this summer. They are now eager to launch Full Sail and to update and advance Pilgrim goals and examples at libraries, churches, schools, and Mayflower Society meetings across the nation.
